  1. You know, I'm ok about my daughter's going back to school. I try my best to make good decisions – weighing up the risk against the damage to their wellbeing if they continue to stay at home.

I'm currently quarantining after returning from Portugal. 'What, get on a plane! Are you mad!'. 'How irresponsible! Think of other people' etc etc. However, the *actual* reality in Portugal was *way* better than the UK: everyone wore masks inside, key their distance, washed hands

But schools... yes, there will be an uptick in cases. Yes, there will be kids who will get sick. But this is now a case of moving towards living with this disease and the risks associated with it. And trying to make the best judgement I can.

My advice: don't read the press. Read the science. If you don't understand it, there are plenty of scientists who will try to explain it to you. Mostly, it's getting comfortable with 'we don't know yet' and making judgements on what you do understand.

I think it's also about exercising a large dose of social responsibility. I've seen first hand in Portugal how that, when everyone adheres to a new social norm (masks, distancing, sanitising), the effect is massively anxiety reducing.
