    Let me elaborate... When a design is so tightly tied to technical debt in a micro-componentized way – where each component is moving at its own speed, in it's own way – how that comes together – the 'design' – cannot iterate in a meaningful way.

      Which is why we see: – Skunkworks forking of entire systems just to be able to move quickly. – Pressure to wholesale redesign to overcome overwhelming technical debt. – 'Theming' and 'Skinning' as lipstick on a pig being sold as 'the benefit of a design system'.
