This really has to stop. Yesterday afternoon, out on a ride, I was close passed about 4 times. One van so close it clipped my elbow lightly at about 50mph (I was doing about 20). And that’s not mentioning the verbal abuse, the intimidating driving, and the ‘oh, sorry, I didn’t see you’ comments when being pulled out on. When I’m on a bike, I am vulnerable. After this lockdown, everyone should know what 2 metres is. Give me room to be safe.Permalink On twitter.com

And it’s so normalised, when I mention this to a lot of people, they say: ‘Oh, it’s your choice to ride on the roads, they are not safe’. Cycling on the roads isn’t dangerous. Road users are (and that includes some cyclists).Permalink On twitter.com
