I like the BBC. I liked it when I worked there. I like the content, the services, the accessibility, and the work that only a public broadcaster could do. What I don’t like is the legal requirement to pay a TV license. I’d like a choice.

Ok. I’ve just read up in this and I was wrong. The TV license is not a compulsory BBC subscription (but part of it is). Apparently it includes watching any live broadcast TV (even from outside the UK) and via any other device capable of it.

In that case, the framing of the BBC charter renewal and its links to the license fee settlement paint the wrong picture. That should be the story.
