  1. Twitter’s new font first reactions… The good: - Looks nice! - Legible, but characterful. Difficult to pull off when it has to work hard in UI and brand. - Some good optimisations at small sizes/low contrast. - Global feel about it. Doesn’t feel US-centric. [1/2]

      And room for improvement… - Polarised usage in the UI. *really* heavy and *really* light weights. Draws the eye. - A few tiny things are adding to a bit more visual noise: ear on the l/c ‘g’, tight kerning on currency eg $96. - The bold starts to break down at small sizes.

      The other main nice thing... It's not a system font. Or Helvetica. Great to see orgs like Twitter investing in custom type.

        The other nice thing… It’s not a geometric ‘friendly’ sans like literally every other tech brand is doing because design convergence or whatever.
