    1. Initially skeptical, but then a convert, i'm a fan of risk registers as a way of providing a snapshot of 'is it all going pear shaped?'. However, they are cumbersome. And a bit Prince2. Anyone have any leaner examples that can be paired with a simple RAG status list?

    They are also a really useful tool to know when to escalate something. It gives some numbers to something on fire. That works particularly well in places where manager escalation is an endemic problem.

      That all said, I've also seen them used as a stick to beat with. And as a misrepresentation of reality (the map, not the landscape) and that everything is orderly and in its spreadsheet box.
