  1. Designing with just black and white type, one typeface, a couple of weights, is just so exposing. Nothing to hide behind. No guff. No frills. Imo, you can really see if someone has design chops if they can do a good job under such tight constraints.

      Maybe I’m a bit odd, but I always start my work this way. Black and white. One typeface. Two weights. Just space and size to denote hierarchy. Good words. Helpful typesetting. It’s just the basics, but it continues to challenge me.
